Lessons & Testimonials

The structure of my lessons are built off the previous lesson in the pursuit of the steps to build towards a goal. I meet all of my students and their horses where they are at in their journey. We work on small attainable goals for each lesson that equal the larger sum of goals overall.

My lessons follow the dressage training pyramid for all efforts and principles based in the classical style of horsemanship. Like building blocks, this helps to establish the foundation of all riding, no matter the discipline. To read more about my riding/training Philosophy, and how I continue my education, click here.

Progressive learning techniques in riding were first shown and then taught to me through many years of shadowing accredited instructors, clinicians, and trainers. I have been trained, tested, and certified in my teaching through the USPC. Some of the best teaching experience I’ve gained, however, is from my students themselves as I have learned to become a better instructor through experience in the arena.

All I require of my students is that they try their best and stay communicating with me. Questions are welcome and encouraged.

I aim to keep all my lessons positive, straightforward, and challenging enough for any experience level. My number one goal is that you leave in a better spot than when you started!

Obtaining Continuous Progress

Those that would like to progress with ambition of attaining goals will benefit most from consistency. I suggest “homework” for my students at the end of lessons– things they can work on until I see them next so we can progress to the next step.

All horses benefit from consistency, as do their riders!

“I grew up as a peer of Alanna’s in our local Pony Club. She has since taken her extensive experience and knowledge into an instructor role, and we are so thankful she has.

Alanna is patient, kind and has helped me immesnsely as I have stepped back into the world of riding, and hopefully competing again. She has helped me with ground work, riding, and even trailering my horse.
